What to Expect
You will be greeted by a courteous and friendly receptionist who will have some paperwork for you to fill out.
After you are done and checked in, you will be brought to one of our new exam rooms to be evaluated by one of our physicians. There they will do a thorough history and examination. Xrays may be ordered which can be performed in our clinic with our onsite Xray machines. After all of your exam findings have been gathered and reviewed, a specific indvidual treatment plan will be discussed with you and laid out for you to accomplish both yours and our goals.
A follow up visit will be set and your treatment will begin. This first visit typically lasts about 1 hour of total time.
Your follow up visits should last anywhere from 30 miutes to 1 hour depending on what services you are receiving.
Our approach to recovery is like building a house certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully.
If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care 3 times per week for 3-4 weeks. Most of the time in this phase your care is of a passive nature. Which means you aren't as active during this time. The doctor may also prescribe medications or advise you on over the counter medications to ease your pain.
During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. It is typical to need care 2 times per week for anywhere from 2-18 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem. During this phase your treatment becomes more active and thus you have more of an active role in the treatments we perform.Anything from stretching to rehab exercises to manual manipulation can be used during this time. Your doctor will come up with the best comprehensive care plan to help you achieve the best outcomes.
Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit 1-2 times per month or 1-2 times every 2-3 months, based on your lifestyle and goals. Many of our patients and athletes continue with wellness care in order to stay in as best shape they can year round after they reach this level.
